Williamsburg Office:Water Resources Engineer/Hydrologist We are seeking engineers for opportunities ranging from entry level to mid level. Candidates should have an educational background in water resources engineering with an emphasis on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater management, water quality assessments, and water resources planning. Preferred knowledge or experience includes: - Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills - Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis - Watershed planning - Low Impact Development and Design - Floodplain studies - Water quality assessments - General knowledge of computer spreadsheets, database, and word processing applications - Ability to work in a highly automated design office environment - General knowledge of AutoCAD and hydrologic and hydraulic software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, and Pond Pack) preferred. Landscape Architect I (Two Positions Available) Preferred candidates will possess a B.S./LA, strong AutoCAD 2004 experience, excellent graphic, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. These positions require entry level to 4 years of experience. A strong working knowledge of any or all of the following skills as they relate to environmental planning/design and/or environmental mitigation and stream restoration design is required: - Conceptual design and site plan design development - Grading, drainage and layout design - Construction detailing and document preparation - Interpretation of county ordinances/code into final design plans - Stormwater management - Grading and earthworks calculations - Working knowledge of ornamental and native plant material - Environmental Resource Inventory map preparation and site analysis - Experience with AutoCAD 2004 - The ability to utilize/import raster and vector data including digital orthophotos, U.S.G.S. topographic quadrangle maps, and global positioning data. CAD Technician (Two Positions Available) The preferred candidate should have 0 - 2 years experience utilizing AutoCAD, the ability to work within a team environment and possess a working knowledge of some or all of the following skills as they relate to professional practice: - Experience with AutoCAD 2004 - Preparation of Environmental Inventory Maps and Permit Support Graphics - wetland delineation and impacts maps - wetland mitigation feasibility maps - regulatory support graphics for water quality impact assessments - two-dimensional color plan graphics - site feasibility studies - Knowledge of preparation of engineering documentation and graphics: (a plus) - Resource inventory map preparation and site analysis - Conceptual design to final site plan design development - Grading, drainage, and layout design - Construction detailing and document preparation - Spreadsheet and word processing applications - Ability to work effectively within a team in a highly automated design office environment
Richmond Office:Soil Scientist Applicants for this position could include Soil Scientists or other professionals in closely related fields. The preferred applicant should also be a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) and an Authorized Onsite Soil Evaluator (AOSE) or eligible for certification. The candidate should possess excellent verbal and technical writing communication skills, the ability to work within a team environment. A working knowledge of all of the following skills as they relate to soil science: - Soil mapping and evaluation for potential drainfield use - Soil evaluation and documentation for drainfield location and design - Field mapping skills - Familiar with the Virginia State Health Regulations - An understanding of soil taxonomy and classification A balance of fieldwork and design activities will be necessary, and experience using AutoCAD 2004 or higher is preferred, but not required. Willingness to work outdoor in seasonal conditions and acceptable driving record required. Northern Virginia Office (Herndon):Construction Administration Team These positions are located in Construction Administration at our Herndon, VA office. - Sr. Project Manager, BA/BS Environmental Science/Studies, 5+ yrs exp., construction management and practices, compliance, excellent client interface, knowledge of erosion control practices, ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Regulatory experience helpful. - Environmental Specialist, 2-4 yrs. exp., knowledge of general construction practices, environmental assessments/compliance, permitting, technical reports and mitigation. Some field work required. Must be able to obtain state certification in Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection within one year. - Environmental Technician, 0-2 yrs. exp. inspection compliance, outdoor seasonal field work, monitoring, reporting on environmental elements of various construction and wetland projects. Must be able to obtain state certification in Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection within one year. - Project Assistant, 0-2 yrs. exp., Assist project/task managers with day-to-day project administration; coordinate schedules, develop reports, excellent communications skills, detail oriented, construction experience helpful, MS office.
