Listed Species Conservation
Williamsburg Environmental Group, Inc. (WEG) personnel have been involved in all stages of listed species conservation, from wildlife surveying, monitoring, relocation and permitting, including the development and implementation of Habitat Management Plans for a variety of listed species, to the establishment of listed species relocation areas and endangered species conservation bank sites, including the development and implementation of habitat restoration activities and performance monitoring. WEG personnel have completed wildlife Habitat Management Plans throughout the State of Florida for various regulatory agencies, including Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Southwest Florida Water Management District, St. John’s Water Management District, South Florida Water Management District, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
WEG personnel have experince with a wide variety of species and habitats, including the gopher tortoise, gopher frog, Florida Mouse, sand skink, blue-tailed mole skink, Florida scrub-jay, Florida panther, Florida black bear, Florida sandhill crane, wood stork, and other listed wading birds. Habitats typically involved include scrub, pine flatwoods, upland forest, and forested and herbaceous wetland systems.
WEG has extensive experience in all aspects of listed species relocation and endangered species conservation banking, including feasibility, design, establishment, use, and operation of endangered species conservation banks throughout the State of Florida. WEG’s endangered species conservation banking experience provides assurances to regulatory agencies that design and establishment will be successful and provide appropriate mitigation for unavoidable listed species habitat impacts due to development.
WEG prepares the permit applications and all regulatory documents needed for approval and permitting by the local, state, and federal agencies. WEG will coordinate with each agency to ensure that all concerns are addressed and relevant permits are acquired in a timely, cost-effective, “headache-free” manner.
