Liberson Property Landscape Design
City of Hampton On-Call Contract
New Kent Courthouse Sidewalk Improvements
WEG was selected to provide landscape architectural design services for a private residence on a 119-acre property in Fauquier County, Virginia. Prior to initiating design work, a detailed site analysis was performed to assess the viewsheds, future land uses and connectivity of property features, as well as existing conditions such as soils, micro climates due to sun/shade patterns, drainage, and topography. WEG worked closely with the owner to ensure that all goals were met.
WEG’s design work included detailed planning for the landscape plantings of the home and adjacent gardens, as well as master planning for the entire property. A master plan was created for the entire 119-acre site and focused on developing areas to support wildlife by creating unique ecosystem niches and incorporating the design of a trail system to access the property. The master plan cohesively ties the habitat planning components into a large stream and wetland restoration project being currently completed by WEG for The Nature Conservancy. The concept and detailed plans for the residence’s landscape plantings included multiple diverse design options, each of which included foundation plantings, walkways, orchards, and grape arbors. At the request of the owner, only plants native to Fauquier County were installed. This included the coordination of plant material selection to assure that each met stringent quality standards. WEG provided all the necessary documents to facilitate implementation and worked closely with the client on project cost and budgeting. WEG staff also provided critical installation oversight to ensure that the design intent and that the owner’s vision was achieved.
Based on the success of the project, WEG has been retained for additional services including the development of a forest management plan, coordination of additional plantings on the property, as well as landscape architecture services on another property owned by the client.
