New Kent Courthouse Sidewalk Improvements |
Showcases: WEG worked with staff and representatives from New Kent County, Virginia regarding the New Kent Courthouse Sidewalk Improvements – Phase III project. The project began with a project kick-off/program development meeting led by WEG with members of the New Kent County staff and members of the New Kent County Public Schools, with participants having continued input throughout the design process. The overall goal of the project is to design and implement a cohesive appearance for the area encompassing the New Kent County Courthouse area that includes the government buildings and the three public schools.
A unique component of this project was a proposed shallow marsh planting area within an existing Stormwater facility, which will serve a living science/horticultural laboratory for the students. In addition, select high school students along with their instructor, will assist in growing, planting, and maintaining landscape planting areas surrounding existing school signs within the project limits. In addition, WEG assisted New Kent County by providing plans, graphics, and cost opinions to support their application for additional TEA-21 funding to facilitate the implementation of this project.
