Christopher Newport University (CNU) added a collegiate football program with play beginning during the fall 2001, and the project team worked closely with CNU beginning in December 2000 to expedite the design and construction of the stadium seating and associated site work to accommodate CNU football fans. The project encompassed three phases: schematic design phase, preliminary design phase, and the working drawing, bidding and construction phase. The proposed football stadium seating and associated site improvements were designed to nestle within limited space adjacent to the existing football/track complex and additional athletic playing and practice fields on the corner of the CNU campus. Williamsburg Environmental Group, Inc. (WEG) was responsible for the Environmental Impact Report, civil engineering design, stormwater management design, bidding assistance and construction administration.
