Route 7 Leesburg Pike
Williamsburg Environmental Group, Inc. (WEG) worked as a subcontractor to Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, P.C. (JMT) on the Virginia Department of Transportation project to widen Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) in Fairfax County, Virginia. WEG was responsible for the project coordination to obtain the regulatory agency acceptance for the goals and objectives, site screening criteria for site ranking and approval of the conceptual plans for the top ranking sites, early coordination and permit coordination.
WEG provided Water Quality worksheets for jurisdictional crossings including isolated wetland areas. The water quality information was used to develop a project impact matrix, which was then used to develop and analyze alternatives for both design and location. The delineated wetland area was flagged and surveyed for incorporation into the plans. WEG then obtained confirmation from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
WEG completed a comprehensive assessment of the existing data associated with potential compensation sites that involves collecting data on the parcel size, land cost, landscape position, hydrology, existing habitat, soils, surrounding land use, and construction access. A compensatory mitigation conceptual plan was developed and used to provide the basis for evaluating the potential for site success and estimating construction costs. The plan considered the total acreage needed for regulatory compliance, mix of habitat types, anticipated source of hydrology, and a general grading and habitat plan view.
