WEG provides soil documentation and design services for application to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) for onsite wastewater treatment systems.  WEG’s skilled soil scientists will evaluate the soil and prepare a report package for submission to VDH. WEG will also provide several different report packages depending on the individual needs of the client.

• Soil Documentation Report:  The Soil Documentation Report is used mainly as a purchasing tool for clients who need to have the site evaluated quickly to see if the parcel has a drainfield area that meets current Health Department Regulations.

• Soil Certification Report:  The Soil Certification Report provides all the documentation required obtain a Certification Letter from VDH.  VDH acknowledges that an onsite wastewater disposal site exists on the parcel when they issue a Certification Letter.  Certification Letters are transferable during a real estate transaction.

• Soil Documentation and Design Report:  The Soil Documentation and Design are for or clients who will build within 18 months.  This Report provides all documentation and design work necessary to obtain a Sewage Disposal Construction permit from VDH.  Sewage Disposal Construction permits are not transferable in a real estate transaction.

The process begins with soil evaluation

A WEG Soil Scientist carefully describes the soil.  A Munsell Color Book is used to determine the color of the soil.

WEG Soil Scientist use a Precision Permemeter to determine the soil permeability on difficult sites.
