Warhill Sewer Extension

WEG provided environmental services for the Warhill Sewer Extension in James City County, Virginia. WEG conducted a delineation of the jurisdictional waters of the U.S., including the wetlands within the project limits utilizing the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual to identify and delineate the wetland boundaries within the proposed right of way. WEG prepared offsite analysis of wetland features, including available resources such as National Wetland Inventory (NWI) Maps, U.S. Geologic Survey (USGS) topographic maps, aerial color infrared photography, and soil maps. WEG delineated and flagged the boundaries of the waters of the U.S. including the wetlands. WEG presented their findings, via wetland delineation maps, data sheets and a letter which described the physiography and water features along the alignment, and a discussion of the delineated wetlands to the Army Corps of Engineers to obtain confirmation.

WEG provided regulatory support throughout the permit process. This involved coordination and negotiations between various regulatory and advisory agencies subsequent to submitting the permit application. In addition to regulatory support, WEG performed a Threatened and Endangered Species inventory of the site to determine if the small whorled pogonia (Isotria medeoloides) was present in the proposed right of way. Archaeological coordination was also provided by the WEG team.
